Through the Looking Glass

This is not a happy read.

But the picture to the right caught my attention.

The interesting thing is that Humpty Dumpty is extremely rude to Alice, yet Alice refuses to do anything that could offend him. It’s interesting that physical location can, in some ways, determine power. HD is higher up, and so Alice treats him accordingly.

Yet, in the land of the Looking Glass, everything is opposite. What we see in this story is that it’s better to be on the ground. Countless men fall in this story, and Lewis Caroll, the autor, seems to be saying that the higher up we are, the more likely we’ll fall. Duh — those who are on the bottom aren’t in much of a position to fall.

An interesting thought anyway.
