Bearing fruit

As I make my way through Numbers, I was struck by an image I came across in the thirteenth chapter.

“And they came to the Valley of Eshcol, and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they brought also some pomegranates and figs.” (Num 13:23)

Interesting! Here we have Israel in the wilderness, on their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. In moments when they are feeling like giving up because of their misfortunes, God comes through. He provides them a cluster of grapes so big it takes two to carry it. Wow!

And so the Israelites truly bear fruit. They carry it. Together.

Fruit for thought.

  1. That is still so true today! When you think you can't go another step and you think you've used up all your energy that is when God is ready to give you some help. He won't let you down! Good blog, Mike!
