Feast of the Dedication of St. John Lateran

Within its altar are pieces of a humble table on which St. Peter used to celebrate the Holy Mass, just as we do today.

Being Catholic means being connected to something so much greater than me. It means being connected to churches around the world, to saints and souls and popes of ages past, to the living word.

It means being connected to Jesus Christ himself, broken and shared down through the centuries–and into eternity–on altars like this one.

Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

And that’s everybody.
