Open to being corrected

Today’s readings ask us to consider how ready we stand to be corrected. In the first reading, the prophet Zephaniah speaks about the fate of Jerusalem if they refused to accept correction: “Thus says the LORD: Woe to the city, rebellious and polluted, to the tyrannical city! She hears no voice, accepts no correction; In the LORD she has not trusted, to her God she has not drawn near.” In the Gospel, Jesus reproaches the elders and chief priests for not changing their minds, their ways. How open are we to correction–by our church, by our scriptures, by those in our lives
