Daily homily thoughts, 4/4

Today’s account from Numbers tells the story of the serpent on the staff.  That which was designed to kill became the instrument of salvation. It is a foreshadowing of the Cross. God takes that thing that was supposed to destroy, and converts it into that which bestows even eternal life.  It is a good practice for a Christian to stare at a crucifix every now and again. Looking there, we learn every lesson we ever need to know. We learn every virtue. We learn what love is. We learn the depths of God’s love for us. And what our love is supposed to look like.
