Daily homily thoughts, 3/3

Today, as we embark on our pro-life pilgrimage, we are given the Gospel about the prodigal son. It is the story of a wasted life….at least in part. This man, according to the scripture, squandered his life away. He wasted it. To the point that he essentially died. The father says twice, “My son was dead but has come to life again.” This son’s life was wasted, disposed with, and he was the one who threw it away. It is not so different in our culture today. A lot of people waste their lives, and dispose of others’ lives too.  But we Catholics shout against this because life is just too important not to.
