Daily homily thoughts, 6/21

Today Jesus says in our Gospel: “In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them.”  I remember in the seminary, a friend came to my room. We chatted for a while, then he announced, “Alright, see you later. I’m going to get ready for my holy hour.”  I remember thinking, “What do you mean, ‘get ready'”?  But yes!  We are to approach prayer intentionally, deliberately, so that it’s not a waste of time with me simply complaining, babbling, etc.
