Daily homily thoughts, 9/26

Today we remember Saints Cosmos and Damian, twin brothers who were both medical doctors in the early church days. They were known as the “silverless ones” because they had nothing — they healed people for free, without charge. Free healthcare.  We are all called to be ministers of healing.  In our Gospel, Jesus tells the Twelve to go and cure diseases.  He gives them power and authority to fulfill their mission of healing and proclaiming. We got those same powers at our baptism and confirmation, and each time we have communion.  May we be ministers of healing.
