Daily homily thoughts, 11/1

Maybe the question isn’t “What does it take to become a saint?” — like a check off list — but “Who does it take to become a saint?”

Ultimately to become a saint is to receive Jesus, who is the resurrection and the life, OFTEN AND HEARTFULLY, in as many ways as we possibly can, esp the sacraments

After all – it is not in our power to become a saint, to become holy! Only with God are all things possible.

And when we receive him, then we are poor in spirit, we are meek, we are peacemakers, we mourn, and the rest of the beatitudes. They aren’t a checklist … they’re what happens when we receive Jesus all the time
