Today we begin here the First Saturday Devotion. The First Saturdays Devotion, also called the Act of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Catholic devotion which, according to Sister Lúcia of Fátima, was requested by the Virgin Mary in an apparition at Pontevedra, Spain, in December 1925. This devotion has been approved by the Roman Catholic Church.
It is a good day to start this. It was 17 years ago today when Pope St. John Paul II uttered his last words, weakly, in Polish: “Let me go to the house of the Father.”
“Totus Tuus” was the motto chosen by St. Pope John Paul II during his pontificate. The phrase is Latin and means “Totally Yours.” The origin of the words comes from St. Louis de Montfort’s prayer of consecration to Mary. St. John Paul II entrusted his apostolic work to God through a total consecration to the Mother of Our Lord. Let’s do this same!
